Research

My last assignment for this project is the Press-Kit. Since we plan to submit the film for festivals, the press-kit will be useful for that.

I consulted with several websites to figure out what best to do for the press-kit.

I found some from possible templates that could be used. The vast majority of images that I thought looked the best were from Canva and after another search for top press kit making sites, I found that Canva was a popular choice, as well as Photoshop, Illustrator, and a few websites: Strikingly and StudioBinder.

When searching for concrete examples, I managed to find some films that had their press kits online.

Some elements that I took from these that I liked was lots of graphics and tons of visuals. There seemed to be only a few things in common between them all which made it difficult to find what was most important.

I asked a friend of mine who had made a press kit for her senior capstone and she was kind enough to show me what she put in hers.

In the end, I decided on including the following things into the press kit:

  • Director bios

  • BTS photos

  • stills from the final film

  • pictures of the virtual set

  • the cast and crew

  • log line and synopsis

  • info about the process

  • images of the design in process

I'm going to create a checklist of things that I will need from other people in order to complete this. If I become too busy, I have told Luis what my plan is so that he can take over if my job during break becomes too much.
